Helloo.

I'm at my dad's place for the weekend. It's kind of great to have Internet again, so I'm taking full advantage of it.

Anyway, last night we went to this cafe called Salivation. It's right down the road from Mustafa and it's a vegetarian restaurant. I got the spinach burger, which was so. Freaking. Good. Seriously beats meat burgers. All of you should go try the food there, even if you're not vegetarian. But beware, the interior: pink overload.

You know, if you replace using the word meat with flesh, it sounds a lot worse. Like 'flesh burgers', or 'I love chicken flesh'. Ack.

It seems like I am top priority while planning meals, now that I am vegetarian. I do feel a bit guilty, but I'm even more grateful that my family is taking this well. They're actually supporting me and helping me find stuff like mock meats and the likes. Yesterday we found faux chicken cutlets, sausages and a whole bunch of other stuff at Mustafa centre. It was so exciting discovering new things to eat, especially since tofu was getting a little boring. These mock meats are made from mostly soy. Some use gluten or wheat, and they won't really provide protein, so we didn't buy those.

This morning we had the mock chicken sausages and they actually tasted like the real stuff! It was kind of surprising, tasting 'chicken' again. I haven't missed animal flesh at all since I made the change, which I am thankful for. I think my will this time was stronger than last year, when I had only lasted as a veg for less than a whole day.

I like this living for a cause. Living and not just being indifferent towards the environment. I feel that people in Singapore aren't very conscious about the environment. The other day I told the cashier at a bookstore in Bugis Junction I didn't need a plastic bag and she had this surprised, wtf-did-you-just-say look.

Also, at the Home Team Academy where I go for NPAP training, they don't have recycling bins. During the break everybody goes to the canteen and we get a bottle of water, food, and some cold drinks if you'd bother to queue up for it. The drinks come in plastic bottles or cups and there are more than a thousand people involved in NPAP if my estimations aren't way off. After we're done, all of the trash just goes into one big bin. I don't think that there are gonna be people who'll sort through our rubbish afterwards, right? And even if there are, wouldn't it be a whole lot easier to just have recycling bins ready?

You know what, this post is too long. I'll take a wild guess and say that many of you have stopped bothering to read a long time ago. But it doesn't matter. I don't write for publicity or anything, although I do hope that I can get through to people and turn them veg.

Oh, and I got my glasses already. I suspect that the majority of people around me will find it ugly. They're not the usual rectangular, metal-framed specs you see on every other half-blind person. They're plastic, blue. The shape bears a slight resemblance to those retro cat-eye glasses. All in all, they're something different. And I guess that's the beauty in them.

Fuck, I'm deep. Haha. Kay not funny. That was obnoxious.

Bye!
