ATC

Hello.

I'm finally blogging about ATC today! It was a 3D2N camp at Pulau Ubin and it was such an awesome experience. I think the TKGians were doing very well there. I mean, we volunteered a lot, took initiative, were always at the front of the line, were enthu, carried many, many things while some boys refused to.. We even helped clean up the canteen while everybody else made their escape.

The camp was really slack, but we did a lot of walking here and there. It was such a bummer that we had to keep walking from the Noordin campsite, which is for the sec 3s, to the Bahru one, which was the sec 2s'. I felt like the camp schedule wasn't very packed. Like we could have done at least a bit more in those 3 days.

I feel like retelling the whole camp right from the start now.

On Friday, we left school for Changi jetty at 1.50, all decked out in our less than cool PT kits and huge backpacks. We took a bumboat to Ubin and from the jetty, we hiked up to the campsite. That took around 20 minutes and it was pretty tiring, but we recovered. The sec 2s were then made to walk to the Bahru campsite, which seemed so far away at that point. The more trips we made though, the shorter the distance felt.

At the Bahru campsite, we were totally swarmed by mosquitoes. We were split into our groups and I was in group 2 with Adela and Sabrina. There's this cute guy in group 1 but I don't even know if I like him and anyway, I found out he has a girlfriend so like whatever lah. Two people I knew from NPAP were in group 2 - Martin from Broadrick and Hui Ying from Chung Cheng. Know what, I think I'll most probably end up writing a whole book on ATC if I continue like this.

OK so this is what we did.

Day 1:

- Pitched our tents on the hill. There were steps cut into the hill, sort of like terraces, so we were able to sleep on somewhat flat ground. Mosquitoes were draining our blood supplies and some people had ultra swollen arms. I learned that if you don't scratch the bites, the itchiness just wears off.
- Had our icebreaker game which was Whacko. I couldn't really remember the Chinese names well.
- Had dinner, and I was basically the only female vegetarian there. Two other VS boys were vegetarian too. We shared two packets of Mushroom flavoured ramen noodles.
- Walked back to the Noordin campsite because the CIs were worried about the massive mosquito attack.
- Went through our campfire songs and TKGS was the most enthu, especially during the action songs like My Side. Haha fun fun fun.
- Washed up, didn't change shirts.
- Lights out. Girls slept in the foyer and boys in the canteen. It was pretty comfortable, I guess, if you compared it to sleeping the tents. I was wedged between Syafiqah and Pei Shan. Syafiqah and I were whispering about the cute CI and some other notable boys and Adela kept telling us to shut up.

Day 2:

- Woke up at 5.30 and washed up. Fell in at 6.30. The sec 3s were having their PT in the field. Looked very slack but some people complained that it was tough?
- Went back to Bahru.
- Did PT. It was so freaking easy it kind of irritated me.
- Had breakfast. Our CI Brian showed us how to make sponge cakes (soggy biscuits -___-) with water and the cookies in our ration packs.
- Were told that group 1 and 2 would have our activity cycle together. Yay!
- Had our low-ropes course. Didn't get to do much, because it rained halfway.
- Spent some time in the canteen discussing our campfire item and competing against group 1(the one with the cute boy) in this bench game. We also tried to outcheer each other, but my group failed. Miserably. VS has this banana cheer which is so, so wrong. First off there's something about peeping through the window and meet me tonight all alone cos I wanna show you something that's yellow and long. Then they start going 'one banana two banana' while humping air? And I found out our If I Were song got banned. Such a 'whaaaaaaaat?' moment when our ma'ams told us.
-Lunch. Got mock chicken curry.
-Changed into my swimsuit top and FBTs for kayaking. Only Adela and I were in those shorts, but at lest mine don't have the curved hem.
-Kayaking! I got paired with a Victorian, Chris from group 1. He's nice and actually knows how to kayak. We were the first to reach the instructor and make a u-turn so we were facing the same direction as him. Had to hold on to his deckline for some time. Adela and this St Pats boy from our group capsized together. I really don't like this boy. He called Adela fat after she declined to give him her number. And then he started bothering me. Huh. Despo much. Oh yeah, and Peishan and I helped cute boy and his partner carry their kayak down to the beach. Hehehehe k whatevs.
- Took a shower and changed into PT kit.
- Land expedition. Tiring. Boring. Pretty much bleah.
- Made our grand entrance at the Noordin campsite singing a cheer with CI Brian leading.
- Dinner.
- Walked back to Bahru.
- Campfire. Our group's performance was alright, I guess. We had to change the lyrics of If You're Happy And You Know It. Saw some NPAP people. Heard Syadza was a hot topic among the sec 3s. Tsk tsk tsk.
I sat beside Sabrina and said St Pat's boy. He started talking to me so I talked to him. Just being nice, even though I hated him for being such a jerk to Adela. Then at one point my light stick started to leak and I told him about it. He started wiping it against my sleeve. Eeyer. Told him to stop touching me, but he insisted he wasn't touching me, technically. Some other shit happened and it made me dislike him even more.
- Walked back to Bahru, complaining to Adela about how this boy was so eugh. Cute boy behind me.
- We were then given some time to clear up the canteen and wash up. Everyone ran away to wash up and left us TKGians to clear up everything on our own. Actually, it was OK lah, cause we got some time to ourselves to share stories.
- Washed up, went back to the tent cause this night there weren't as many mozzies. Adela crushed three spiders. I was sweating through the whole frickin night.
- Woke up in the middle of the night and panicked about what time it was. It was 12 24.

Day 3:

- Woke up at 5 30.
- Washed up.
- Had PT. Did more stuff than the day before, but it was still really slack. Only 20 push-ups, 20 crunches, a lot of jumping jacks because some people didn't stop on time. Ran 3 measly round around the field. What the hell.
- Area cleaning. Groups one, two and 6 were unpitching tents and wiping them clean.
- Walked to Noordin.
- Closing of camp. TKGS did the Anone Pakoke cheer and the TK Philosophy. And walked back to the jetty while doing some more cheers. They whisked us off before we got to exchange numbers with people. :(
- Took the bumboat back to mainland Singapore. Immediately bought ice-cream. Hung around Changi jetty for a bit. Saw NPAP people again. Went down to change in the toilet, bumped into Iskandar and cute boy. Asked for Iskandar's number. Didn't ask for cute boy's cause it would have been weird since I wasn't his group mate or anything.
- Saw them again when I left the toilet ten minutes later.
- Took 2 to Bugis and then 197 back home.

OK I must go now, but before that,
I MISS ATC!!!!

Bye.
