So...

Finals were today. I woke up late this morning, got the shock of my life, called my team mates up and ended up going straight to Pierce Sec by cab. I think we were the most bimbo/lovey-dovey/not serious team there. We started hugging each other really hard before registration started. Then later in the toilet we hugged again, kissed each other on the cheek even. We were the only team who never said 'Work play train rest we're the best' when we sat down and we were giggling quite a lot, I think. I bet no one really took us seriously, but that was the whole point.

Today for the finals there was a special component to the competition. We had to come up with a Field Kitchen Table Cum Jerry Can Holder And Water Dispenser thingy to replace our gadget. We were only told what we were supposed to build like today and then we were given half an hour to quickly come up with a design. We were stressing the hell out of ourselves during that half an hour but omg, I think our structure was pretty cool.

After those 30 minutes were over we were led out onto the field, where the rain was coming down sort of hard. I guess I was nervous, but I was still in a good mood. Yeah then we pitched the tent, did the flagpole, started on the kitchen table thing.. The special component was stressful shit. Everyone became so garang and started screaming at each other. Even then, I think we did pretty well. We didn't manage to finish our structure, but at least it looked almost complete. Judging was scary, but Adela and I who were presenting while the rest of the team took cover in the tent distracted ourselves by looking out for the hot CI, and by smiling super widely every time someone came to take a picture of our pitch. This is kinda sadistic, but we were super glad when we saw that the Nanyang team beside us hadn't completed their tent and were looking so crushed sitting in their half-done shelter. After everything, we unpitched, hugged again, went to the toilet.. OK then prize-giving. We were so freaking scared la omg. The boys teams' results were announced first and VS was damn power! Both their teams got into the finals, and their teams won first and second place! Whoooo I'm so proud of you guys!

Okiez then the girls' results. When we realised we weren't tenth, we screamed. We weren't 9th, so we screamed some more. We weren't 8th or 7th or 6th either, and every time we found we were getting closer to the top, we started cheering like mad. I screamed like shitttt when I heard that one of Nanyang's teams was 7th(I think). And when the other team was 5th while our placing hadn't been revealed yet, it was like.. euphoria man. I admit I was being super insensitive when I totally went 'WE BEAT NANYANG!!!' as they got up to go get their trophies but whatever, we beat Nanyang(and two teams at that) who have always been so frickin awesome at campcraft. Okay then 4th place. Tanjong Katong Secondary School! We were in the top freaking three!!! But then I think I just sort of knew that we were going to stop there. When the presenter called out our school name, the team sort of froze there for 3 seconds before we were like, 'aiyah nvm la let's go'. But we were happy! Just that it would have been nice if we'd gotten Champion.

After everything we went back to school, had lunch at magic wok, 31-ed to Tampines, then went to Changi Airport with Ma'am Amirah and Syadza. Had fun just walking around and talking and eating some more. Bumped into ex-TKGians who are Ma'am Amirah's friends, and Lutfan, who is now so much skinnier I think I am a little scared.

So now I am feeling rather content that we TKNP girls have managed to climb our way back up to top three again. I'm so relieved that campcraft's ended now. It's been such a journey.
